STATE COMPETITION 2024 of the 50th CHEMISTRY OLYMPIAD

We congratulate! 🎉

From April 22nd to 24th, 2024, the 2024 STATE COMPETITION of the 50th CHEMISTRY OLYMPIAD took place at the BRG Steyr Michaelerplatz, where the best 49 students in Upper Austria competed and demonstrated their skills.

We at ESIM Chemicals are delighted to have supported this great event as a sponsor and welcome the lively participation of the 186 motivated students who were prepared for the Chemistry Olympiad in 16 courses at 11 schools in Upper Austria.

On the day of the competition, the participating young chemists worked for five hours and solved highly demanding tasks.

The award ceremony, moderated by organizer Olaf Nowitzki and state coordinator Martin Ertl, was the crowning conclusion.

Guest speakers, including Steyr’s Deputy Mayor Anna-Maria Demmelmayr and Dr. Martin Bergsmann from the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce emphasized the importance of early education in the field of natural sciences and the understanding of science.

Dr. Johanna Novacek and Prof. Uwe Monkowius even dared to compare studying at the Johannes Kepler University Linz with studying at the Hogwarts School of Magic. Various possible educational paths at the JKU in the field of chemistry were presented.
